Another note: before they were clustered together, and now they stand farther apart.
With this chivalric display of dashing duds, will you still wear a paper cap?
Eek, I am terrified of becoming "professional" in the sense I see them. I don't mind professional in a more traditional sense. I think it's the "business" sense that bothers me. Yikes. Does that make any sense?

They seem to have the shark about them. Or perhaps it's conformation so as not to cause commotion that you dislike?
I think it's poise. I think it's something about how you hold your head, and the gaze of the other person, which is independent of clothing. We've all met very dignified hobos. Certain styles (Capitan!) can probably lead to being more aware of your station, and body language, but blending in doesn't seem as likely to lead to that "professional appearance".
